Posted on: 08-31-2009 Posted in: Beacon Program, News & Updates

The Koinonia Foundation has awarded the first micro-grant to the women of the Beacon Program. Each of the 10 women of the Ingenzi K-Light Cooperative has been awarded 6 K-Lights as the capital with which to start her small business.

Before receiving the grant, the women received business training and training in the use of the K-Light. The women then voted on the cooperative’s internal regulations, the cooperative’s management committee, and the name of the cooperative. When translated, “Ingenzi K-Light” means “The Very Important K-Light.”
