About the Koinonia Foundation
Koinonia (coin-a-KNEE-uh): The spirit of fellowship and working together
Our Mission:
The Koinonia Foundation is dedicated to eradicating poverty in the developing world through modernizing education, implementing clean and renewable energy sources, and creating strong communities that promote a safe and healthy standard of living. We work to create awareness about the alarming and deadly living conditions particularly in East Africa, China, and Haiti, and do what we can to rectify the current situation through established programs.
Why we do what we do:
In 1996, our chairman and founder, Dr. Dale Williams, spent three months serving in Mugunga Refugee Camp outside Goma, Ziare (now Democratic Republic of Congo), helping those who had survived the 1994 genocide. Dale and his son, Andrew, started helping the most vulnerable populations – the orphans, elderly, and disabled to find medical care. As the refugees returned to Rwanda, it became apparent that this was where their help was needed.
What we are doing now:
Today, the Koinonia Foundation helps uplift lives from the ravages of poverty. Currently, we work primarily in the East African Community and have recently expanded to include Haiti. The Williams Family Foundation funds Koinonia’s daily operational expenses, allowing us to use 100% of funds raised from the public for our programs which directly help those most at risk.
